The YSU Penguins open the home portion of their Missouri Valley Football Conference schedule this Saturday against the 2-2 Missouri State Bears. The Penguins are rolling into this game with a 3 game winning streak and a lot of confidence after last week's 28-0 shutout win over the Indiana State Sycamores.
During last years injury plagued season, the Penguins lost in Springfield, MO to the Bears 42-28. MSU is led by their QB Cody Kirby, who passed for 127 yards and rushed for 57 yards against the Penguins last season. Their other star player on the offensive side of the game is TE Clay Harbor. YSU Head Coach said this of Harbor, "Their tight end is a really special athlete. He blocks like a tight end but runs like a wideout." If the MSU offense can get its passing game going, this could be a shoot-out.
On the defensive side of the ball the Bears are led by LB Antoine Wilkinson. The Bears like to run a 3-4 defense and have a tendency to blitz a lot, which could be a concern for YSU QB Brandon Summers. Overall, the MSU defense has looked real good in their wins, but real bad in their losses. They are giving up about 27 points per game, while they average just 19 points on the offensive side of the football.
Prediction: First off, I am calling on everyone to come out this Saturday and cheer on our Penguins. The whole day is filled with promotions, which you can see in the advertisement to the right of this article, and the forecast looks promising with partly cloudy skies and a high in the mid 60s. When the Bears came to town two years ago, we had a crowd of 19,617. The noise from the crowd caused problems all day for the Bears as the Penguins won in blowout fashion 49-21.
We need to get another big crowd this Saturday for our team as they look to make a statement in the FCS Ranks. The Penguins open up as 8pt favorites.
Youngstown State: 35
Missouri State: 17
Attendance: 17,500
The Penguins will get off to a good start early on in this game and will roll from there. Look for a big game out of QB Brandon Summers through the air and RB Kevin Smith on the ground. The win will push the 'Guins into the Top 25 for the first time all season.
GO PENGUINS!

Two drives inside the six yard line and they don't score once.
A blocked field goal.
Either 4-5 turnovers to 1 for MSU.
Ugly game.
