Attorney Dave Betras wrote a Letter to the Editor in the Youngstown Vindicator today that can be found here:
http://vindy.com/news/2009/oct/11/strickland-took-high-road/?newswatch

Betras, head of the Mahoning County Democratic Party, tried to defend the despicable job of Ted Strickland since he became our Governor in January 2007.

He defended Strickland for not raising taxes, but 'ironically' made no mention of the following:

-College tuition rising at seven state run Universities. The remaining Universities that did not raise tuition this year plan to implement tuition increases come 2010. This occurred due to Strickland ending the state tuition freeze.

-Licensing fees rising across the board on your trip to the BMV.

-Toll rates rising across the board on the Ohio Turnpike.

-Our unemployment rate DOUBLING under Ted Strickland from 5.2% to 10.8%, a 26 year high.

-Not a single [net] job being created under Strickland.

-Ted ending the five year income tax cut, which may not qualify as a tax increase in Betras' head, but for the hard-working people of Ohio, it translates into less money in their pockets.

Come November 2010, Ohioans will be giving our state more money than they did when Strickland took office. I will let you guys debate whether or not that is a tax increase in your eyes. What I do want to say is this: Dave Betras is beyond irrational when he says he will get Ted Strickland 80% of the Mahoning Valley.

In 2006 Strickland won 76% of the Mahoning Valley vote, with a decent sized portion of that vote coming from conservatives with similar views as me. You have got to look at it like this: Gore-Kerry-Obama got around 62% of the vote here, therefore somewhere in the neighborhood of 12-15% of the Strickland vote came from voters that voted Republican in the Presidential Elections of 2000, 2004, and 2008.

Come next year at this time, their is no doubt in my mind that the conservatives that backed Strickland in 2006 will be backing Kasich, as well as the 'Reagan Democrats' that realize this guy has done nothing good for Ohio. Strickland will be lucky to get 60% of the Mahoning Valley.

Dave Betras, you are wrong. Strickland is not the answer for Ohio's problems...
