Just yesterday I found two new polls that gave Barack Obama some pretty decent leads in the Buckeye State. The issue I have with these polls is that they were conducted by two 'not so respected' polling agencies; they being some PPP and Quinnipiac. I like to watch polls like WSJ, Rasmussen, and Gallup; these always seem to have the best data out there.
The Rasmussen Reports poll released just today seems a lot more accurate, McCain up by an insignificant 1 point over Obama 44%-43%. Ohio will be 'the' toss-up state again this election year, that is why I like to follow these polls that have a proven track record for being right, and Rasmussen Reports has done a tremendous job of following the Buckeye State for the past 5 months.
In the poll, 71% of Ohioans agree with John McCain that we must begin drilling in American Waters, while just 18% agree with Barack Obama that it is just political sweet talk. This is a big number to watch, because if gas prices continue to rise, this may become the #1 issue for Ohio Voters, with the economy being a close second, and right now John McCain is winning over the Ohio Voters in regards to gas prices.
We at MVRed.com label this a pure toss-up state. Other sites label it in the Democratic column and give him a polling average lead of 5 points, but we realize some of these polls are simply off, and we do not put much weight on them. We will continue to post polling data for toss up states from polling agencies like WSJ, Rasmussen, and Gallup. One last thing to mention is perhaps the Obama Bounce was not felt in Ohio or perhaps over altogether. Obama did not gain all that much in the data polled by Rasmussen in Ohio as he did in a few other states.
