When Congressmen Bart Stupak (D) announced that he would support ObamaCare around 4pm yesterday, I knew the future of America would never be the same. Despite poll after poll out (from every pollster you can think of) showing Americans were opposed to this bill by a 50.5 to 40% margin according to RealClearPolitics Average, the Democrats in the US House ignored the American people by passing an unconstitutional piece of legislation.

After last night's 219-212 vote, I have had mixed emotions about everything that has transpired in the past 24 hours. On one hand I am very angry with the passage of this bill. I find it troubling that the Democrats can speak before Congress and lie by stating everyone wanted this bill to pass, when they all know that is not the case. On the other hand I am pretty sad that the bill passed because it is one step closer to European-style socialism and a bankrupt America. One of the things Barack Obama promised in his campaign was that taxes would not go up in his Administration, yet this bill raises taxes for all Americans!

When Barack Obama signs this bill tomorrow, lawsuits from a number of states will begin to be filed stating this bill is unconstitutional. Attorney Generals from at least 11 states will cite that the Federal Government cannot force anyone to purchase anything as they plan to take the fight to the US Supreme Court. Other states, such as Idaho and Virginia, have passed (or will be passing) legislation that will force each states Attorney General to ban the enforcement of any federal mandate that was passed yesterday in the health care bill.

I think it is safe to say that this health care fight will not end anytime soon and that a date with the US Supreme Court will be in order in due time. There, Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito may be finally able to fight back against Obama's cheap shot remarks in the 2010 State of the Union Address in which he singled out the US Supreme Court for their decision to overturn McCain-Feingold. Each Justice left that address very angered by President Obama's remarks and the response from the Democratic Party. If/When this bill reaches the US Supreme Court, all eyes will be on Justice Anthony Kennedy, as he will likely hold the key deciding vote as to whether or not ObamaCare is constitutional or not.

In closing, the American people did not vote for this bill, the Democratic Party did. Had the American people voted on this bill, it would have been defeated soundly by a double digit margin. We have no need to worry though, the American people's voice will be heard this November as we let this audacious Congress know what we think of them and their decision to ignore us. I predict today, March 22nd, that the Republican Party take back the US House AND the US Senate this November.

You are wrong in spades, Metz. The American people DID vote. They voted in the Democratic Party. It's a representative government, that's how it works.

The GOP has had it's Waterloo, and all that remains is a shell of a party controlled by lunatics. The Party of NO has heard the American people loud and clear.

From this post, you clearly do NOT understand the function of the US Supreme Court. You suggest an open politization of the Court in some odd REVENGE strategy. But, at least you GOPers are no longer hiding your attempts at gaming of the system.

And you are also wrong in saying the Justices all left the SOTU address with their panties in a bunch. Some Justices agree completely with Obama (and the Constitution) and one Justice does NOT attend the SOTU because he thinks it's all too political. Ironically, that is Justice Thomas...

    ;)

Let me clarify, when I said [EACH] Justice, I was talking about Alito and Roberts, not all of them.
  • Amerika
Ok. I'll buy that. But, that is 'politicizing' the Court. I find it interesting that Justice Thomas does not attend the SOTU. His wife has founded a teabag group, but that's another story.

As it stands now, only those with income levels above 200,000 will see taxes rise. Their medicare payroll tax will increase by .9% and their capital gains tax will increase by 3.8%. These tax increases will take place in 2013. The fines and penalties begin in 2013 and are extremely modest when compared to the cost of purchasing health insurance. I work for a small business and the health care issue wasn't even a concern for us yesterday.

If Supreme Court Justices use their seat for revenge, then it will be a dark day in American history.

If were able to get out of Afghanistan and Iraq within a couple of years, spending issues won't be so bad.

When a productive member of society goes to a doctor and has to wait in line behind an entitled crack head and welfare Mama with 13 SSI children, we can all sing Kumbaya.
  • chousteau
That is an extreme generalization that will not happen and you know won't happen. Those people you stereotype already go to the emergency room for free right now.
  • Ron Eiselstein
I said to the doctors office, everyone knows emergency rooms must take anybody. I do know because I have seen growing up in another country.
  • Ron Eiselstein
Exactly, you made my point, when you go to the emergency room and the crack head is in front of you, you wait singing Kumbaya.

    Very insightful thoughts.

  • Nicholas  - Blatant lies.
In regards to your first paragraph: http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-03-23/the-biggest- republican-lie-of-all/?om_rid=MQYxnf&om_mid=_BLqgSgB8Glx9eR&

In regards to your second paragraph: this bill is far from socialized medicine. Socialized medicine is completely paid for by taxes (health insurance companies wouldn't even exist) and doctors are hired by the government. To make the statement that America now has a socialist health care system is a blatant lie that is easy to sell. And how will it raise taxes for ALL American's? You answer this question quantitatively or substantively, only by pure speculation distorted with opinion.

Republicans wanted "individual accountability" and they got it. "Forcing" someone to pay for insurance reduces the amount of handouts that the government will give, ultimately lowering taxes for all (in theory, if everyone had insurance, they would have coverage, and would not need government handouts). Those that cannot afford insurance will receive subsidies from the richest 2% in the country. The goal - and I speculate too - is that the absolute valuve of the increase in taxes will be smaller than the absolute value of the decrease in taxes. To point, overall less taxes will be paid because more people are insured. Is it unconstitutional to MAKE someone take care of their health? I don't know, that's not for me to determine.

Truly socialized health care systems similar to the one in Massachusetts will fail. But this is far from a socialist health care system. It was simply a reform.

Insurance premiums were doubling every 4 years (20% average increase since 1994). Personally, I would be much better off financially if I paid 2 percent more per year in taxes and my insurance premiums kept pace with inflation, which is currently stagnant. But I'm not the richest 2% in the country.

Keep feeding your readers false propaganda. You are no different than the political spin machines of Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. It's very entertaining. Keep it coming.

I urge your readers to read "Echo Chambers".

Lies? Give me a break Nicholas. This clause where it states you must buy insurance will never hold up in the US Supreme Court. What enumerated power grants the Federal Government to do that? It is one thing if a state forced an individual to purchase insurance since they are able to, but for the Federal Government?! Are you crazy Nicholas?!

What I can't seem to understand is how you leftists can tell me with a straight face that the American people actually wanted this pathetic bill. It will cost you guys the House and who knows, maybe even the Senate, this fall. But in your eyes that means nothing as long as you can ram through your radical agenda.

Would you take that as a compliment Metz? I mean, those are really some big names, FOX News as a whole makes decent money! Perhaps you've got yourself a career as a "spin machine" whatever that is. :P

The GOP has had their Waterloo... By November the bill will be benefiting real Americans and the GOP will fall further into the abyss...

The GOP claims America didn't get a vote. WTF? We are a representative government. We ELECTED the DEMS into the majority.

When the GOP had the majority, they told the Dems that 'elections have consequences..."

    Welcome to the 21st century...
  • Michael Metzinger
CBS is out this evening with a poll that states 62% of Americans want the Republicans to continue to fight to repeal ObamaCare. That is a significant number that should alarm Democrats.

Rick, you are crazy if you think the GOP will fall further into the abyss by November... Hahaha get ready for Speaker Boehner.
  • Nicholas
The GOP is hijacked ideologically and politically bankrupt.

And the Republicans mustn't forget who is at the forefront of the Democratic party: Barack Obama. So long as he's campaigning for his fellow Democratic legislators, Republicans might sit idle for many years to come.
  • Michael Metzinger
Haha! That worked real well in Virginia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. November is going to be a bloodbath for the Democrats. I wouldn't be susprised if they lost 50+ House seats.
  • rudy56
