President Bush spoke on Tuesday about the cyclone that hit Myanmar and how he wants Myanmar to consider aide from the U.S. But, it wasn't all President Bush's doing. First Lady Laura Bush was also out in front with her husband on this topic. However, this cyclone wasn't the first time Mrs. Bush spoke out in defense of the citizens of Myanmar. She voiced her distaste for the treatment of the people of Myanmar by their government in the past. Mrs. Bush has also done more good in her role as First Lady.
Mrs. Bush has been to Africa five times so far as First Lady, aiding and helping to benefit the AIDs research and trying to heal the epidemic in most parts of the continent. She brings the help that her husband promises over to the people there and has really made a difference not only though money, but through her presence alone.
She has also been very active in the domestic problems of drugs prevention, literacy and on a more wide scale level, trying to accomplish global diplomacy. Mrs. Bush even gets briefed sometimes by State Department and the National Security Council either by her request or because they feel like she can help them. She is a very important asset to the White House.
Mrs. Bush, unlike her husband, has very high approval ratings due to all the good she has done not only here in the U.S. but around the world. Her aiding with the Myanmar cyclone only shows how genuinely good of a person the First Lady really is.

She did an amazing job.

The last polls I read had her approval rating at 83%. I’d love to find another person in America with an approval rating that high. Perhaps the Oprah crowd would have something to say to that.
