Barack Obama gained seven more superdelegates, even some from Hillary Clinton's original pledged superdelegates. Superdelegates from Hawaii, New Mexico and South Carolina all switched their support from Clinton to Obama. This cuts Senator Clinton's lead in superdelegates over Senator Obama to single digits. Obama still has a rather comfortable lead in delegates 1,592 to 1,424 with 217 delegates left up for grab. With so few contests left, it's all but over for the Clinton campaign. The Obama-McCain battle is coming up and this is when McCain should start going after Obama.
McCain should know, as everyone does, that the Democratic nomination will boil down to Barack Obama. McCain needs to be first on the scene by calling Obama out instead of being kind of quiet as he has been thus far. He needs to strike first blood as far as I am concerned and go for Obama. I think McCain has played it safe so far, and it's worked, but he needs to step out of the shadows a little bit. Especially since Obama will more than likely be his opponent, it's the perfect time all the Americans who don't know Maverick to understand who he is.
It's now time for McCain to focus on Obama. I don't think waiting to do it when he has actually locked up the nomination would be a good idea since Clinton could carry it to the convention. It will be interesting to see what happens but at the end of the day, McCain-Obama will be the battle being waged.
