John McCain again talked about his energy plan today discussing his plan for off-shore drilling and the possibility of drilling in ANWAR. McCain said this in a Missouri State University round table discussion:

“We need to encourage production in ways that are consistent with sensible standards of environmental protection. And in states that permit exploration, there must be a sharing of benefits between state and federal governments. But, as a matter of fairness to the American people, we must assure affordable fuel for America by increasing domestic production.”

McCain has been promoting the drilling in America for the last few days and even has gotten the support from President Bush on this issue. Bush had been calling and discussing the possibility of American drilling for sometime and many feel with McCain being the first out of the two candidates to promote drilling in America. McCain finished the round table with this:

“I will set this nation on a course to building 45 new reactors by the year 2030, with the ultimate goal of 100 new plants to power the homes and factories and cities of America. This task will be as difficult as it is necessary. We will need to recover all the knowledge and skills that have been lost over three stagnant decades in a highly technical field.” McCain said his plan would make clean coal “a reality.”

McCain says he will continue to promote off-shore drilling and will especially go for it if he becomes the President.

Metz, you skipped over the insane call by McCain for 100 nuclear power plants across the US and went straight into oil.

The fact of the matter is that McCain’s energy plans revolve around nuclear power and planting 100 radioactive terrorist targets across the USA, putting us all in harm’s way no matter where we live.

If McCain becomes President, we may have to all move to Alaska just to be safe from easy targets and vastly increased dangers of nuclear fallout.

McCain understands nothing about 21st century terrorism.

This from a CONSERVATIVE NEWS SOURCE:

Dems Challenge Bush on Executive Ban on Offshore Drilling
By Josiah Ryan and Fred Lucas
    CNSNews.com Staff Writers
    June 20, 2008

On the Spot (CNSNews.com) – President’s Bush’s call on Wednesday for Congress to lift its 27-year moratorium on offshore drilling is an “example of typical Bush White House politics,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev) told Cybercast News Service Thursday.

Other leading Democrats on Capitol Hill also said they were surprised that Bush has not yet rescinded the executive office ban on drilling, which was established by his father, President George H.W. Bush, in 1990.

“What the president is doing is unfair to the American people to indicate, ‘We will let Congress do something about it,’ ” Reid said. “He has the authority to do it himself.”

“This is typical Bush White House politics. It’s Orwellian,” Reid added. “He has the power, with the signing of a pen, to release more options for offshore drilling — he has the power to do this.”

Congress imposed a moratorium on offshore drilling in 1981 and has extended it annually each year for all coastal waters, except for parts of the Gulf of Mexico and some waters off the coast of Alaska.

In 1990, the elder Bush also implemented an executive ban, which was extended by President Clinton, to last until June 2012. If the current president were to rescind that executive order, it would be a symbolic move because the congressional moratorium would still disallow further drilling.

George W. Bush is the dumbest man on the freaking planet!!!

    Once again:

There is NO ban on off-shore drilling! There is a moratorium on NEW leases. Oil companies have more than 40 MILLION acres under lease NOW and are only drilling on 12 million acres… That leaves 28 MILLION ACRES of oil lease UNDEVELOPED.

Add that to the Enron loophole put into a bill by McCain’s Finance Chairman Phil (my wife got millions from Enron) Gramm (R-idiot). Commodity speculation is completely out of control. Everyone agrees if the law were corrected, the price of oil and gas would fall over 25% overnight. Speculators are now buying up storage capacity. Why?

To keep oil OFF the market until the price goes UP!!!

You are simply DEAD WRONG on oil drilling. Speaking of DEAD wrong:

As for Iran, Bush and Olmert looked pretty cozy last week. If you think Israel would launch and attack on Iran without US involvement, you really don’t understand the reality of it.

This is how it plays out: Israel attacks Iran, but not with missiles. Any launch of live missiles over Jordan would be an iternational incident. However, Jordan might look the other way if fighter-bombers were used. It’s known that Israel has ordered US-built F-22 Raptors, and I believe they already have a half-dozen or so…

So, Israel hits Iran from the air. Iran retaliates, striking the closest targets of opportunity. US forces in the Gulf and Iraq! Iran makes no distinction between Israel and the US.

This is EXACTLY what Bush wants. He is a madman with no understanding of foreign policy or much else. Don’t forget Gen. Tommy Franks (the HERO of Iraq) said one of Bush’s closest advisers was ‘the dumbest man he’d ever met!’

We are constantly attacked on this forum for our beliefs on energy, but the liberals have yet to find a better solution.

Listen I am all for alternative fuels and hydrogen fuel cells and stuff, it’s going to be fun to see them develop over the coming years, but right now we are stuck on oil. And in 10 years, we still will be stuck on oil. That is why drilling is a necessity.

There was some good news yesterday that China is lifting some of their subsidies on their gas which will raise prices their drastically to help curb the demand. But then today we find out that Israel launched a ‘practice’ missile for the future ‘attacks’ on Iran by Israel. They say it is not a matter of IF, but WHEN.

Folks this is not a Bush war against Iran, this is an Israeli war, and I am fully expecting them to destroy Iran. Israel is a force.

Probably the dumbest thing I’ve seen in this campaign is McCain’s call for building 100 nuclear reactors across America by 2030.

Does McCain not know anything at all about Homeland Security? Nuclear reactors are the most obvious and easiest targets for terrorist operations. In fact, if the planes on 9/11 had been able to hit nuclear reactors instead of office towers, the casualties would have been easily 10x to 100x what they actually were.

Yes, John, let’s build a whole bunch of brand new radioactive terrorist targets all across the USA! Then people who hate this country will be able to harm us not just in big cities but all across the countryside so much easier.

McCain is knowledgeable in areas of 20th century warfare, but he’s the most clueless candidate I’ve seen when it comes to 21st century terrorism.
