Two huge GOP VP candidates sounded off recently on their positions of being a potential running mate for John McCain. Both Tim Pawlenty (R) and governor of Minnesota and Tom Ridge both stated where they stand on being the VP to John McCain. First, here is what Pawlenty said:
"We talked about family and sports and politics and the like, but we did not discuss any talk about the vice presidential pick."
Many analysts have correctly identified Pawlenty as in the top tier of choices for McCain in November. Pawlenty is, as stated, the current governor of Minnesota. He is also the co-chairman for McCain's campaign and has been a staunch supporter of the maverick for years. He finished by saying:
"I am very happy being the governor of the state of Minnesota. [being vice president] is not something I have designs on."
Also speaking out about being a possible Veep was former Homeland Security director Tom Ridge. Ridge said he's not going to rule out a run as VP except he would have to discuss with McCain about abortion rights. Ridge said:
"If he asks me, we'll have a private conversation and we'll decide whether or not we ought to tell you what we said."
Ridge was also the governor of Pennsylvania and has been a hardcore Republican his entire life. Finishing up the interview, he doesn't believe he will be asked but he wouldn't rule it out. So what does this mean for McCain? He hasn't made his mind up yet.
