Well a lot of you have come to realize that I do not see eye to eye with the politics and politicians in the area and I am pushing for the likes of [R] Dick McCarthy to bring conservatism to the Valley. Well today I mulled over some different ways to bring true change to the Valley, and it hit me: Let's go Regional. I am a supporter of [I] Jay Williams and his JEDD's plan, but they are not going to work out because the trustees of nearby Austintown and Boardman do not feel that their residents should pay into the cities income tax for economic development, and I am starting to believe that as well.
What we need in Youngstown is something more than JEDD's or simply Republicans getting elected into office, what we need is a Regional Government. We hear it on shows like Dan Rivers and hear local politicians bring it up, but there is no action! Well here is your new advocate for a Regional Government. We need to model the county regional governments of Miami-Dade, FL and Naples-Collier, FL.
For whatever reason in this area, the elected officials are very protective over the boundary's of their communities, but we are going to go nowhere unless we unite. We need Mahoning County to become a unified regional government. We need to eliminate the corporate limits of our towns and cities in our area and put all our government services under one government.
We need a county-wide Police and Fire Dept. We need a county-wide school system. We need a county-wide park system. We need to unite! Instead of all the bickering in this area, can we all strive to make this area better. Put a flat 5.5% [less than the city income tax rate] income tax rate on all the citizens of the county and eliminate the sales tax. That is a way to attract business and people from other counties to come to this area and purchase the goods they need.
Join my discussion on here about making Mahoning County a complete regional government!
