According to the latest GDP (Gross Domestic Product), a recession may not be happening after all. The GDP was predicted to go down this quarter but the numbers are up a modest 0.6%. This is not to say the economy is out of the woods yet for a recession but it doesn’t automatically mean one is coming. Many analysts say the economy is weak but still growing at a modest rate, which actually goes against the definition of a recession. In fact, right after receiving the news of the economic boost, the Dow Jones soared up 150 points.

The economy has been in a bad rut due mainly to the housing problems situation with the highest foreclosure rate in quite some time. This caused consumers to obviously and understandably hold back their money more. The prices of food and gas didn’t help matters much, either. However, businesses boosted their investments of building up stocks, adding a large amount to the GDP. U.S. exports are helping matters as well, due to the rising cost of the U.S. dollar. This makes United States’ products less expensive. President Bush said that the country is going through “difficult times” economically but believes with his $168 billion stimulus package, the economy can get on the right track again.

Perhaps a recession is not 100% going to happen. It still may but there still is a positive way of looking at this after all. Bush is doing all he can to help the economy and looks like it may help the situation.

I may be a young conservative but I am very passionate at my age when it comes to politics. A man that I have recently been studying very closely is a man by the name of Justice Antonin Scalia. My friend Justin at RightontheRight.com posted a great video about Scalia that I encourage everyone to watch.

Now that brings me to my next point about backing McCain. Scalia is a man that speaks what he believes, and he does it very articulately. He is so bright and has a great way to say his beliefs that he makes most politicians look silly. He stands for what he believes and that is something that I am trying to accomplish on this blog. John McCain is a man that stands for what he believes in, and in the process he angers many Republicans and Democrats, but he does what he feels is best for America, and I respect him for that.

I am encouraging all Republicans that read this blog that it is now time to unite behind McCain. I for one am not the happiest camper to see this moderate representing my party that bleeds conservative; but I am starting to get over it. This is about the future of this country. We can not allow these Democrats to get into office. This nation cannot afford a Democrat to raise taxes and weaken our national security. We need to elect a man that will keep taxes low, continue to fight the war on terror, and to unite this nation under his moderate policies.

Republicans, whether you like McCain or can’t stand him; we all must get behind him. He may not exhibit the conservative policies that you and I believe in, but he has some “conservative” policies that should please us all.

Once again, a past relationship has come back to bite Barack Obama in the behind. Obama has had a past connection with terrorist group “the WeatherUnderground”. The man is Bill Ayers.

Ayers is a professor at the University of Illinois and formerly served on a board for education with Senator Barack Obama. This wouldn’t be so bad if Ayers wasn’t apart of the bombings of the Pentagon in 1972. Ayers has also had some very nice things to say about America and the people in this country:

“Kill all the rich people. … Bring the revolution home. Kill your parents.”

“What a country. It makes me want to puke.”

There are worse quotes out there I am sure but those are pretty tame coming from a terrorist. Ayers has shown absolutely no remorse for setting those bombs and even the mayor of Chicago has said he forgives Ayers for what he did because of the work he did on the poverty board. I don’t know how terrorist activities can be excused but this is yet another example of a terrible Obama relationship.

First, a convicted real estate agent. Then a racist Christian pastor. Now a known terrorist who has set off bombs before. Who’s next for Barack Obama?

John McCain is now trusted more than Hillary and Obama on the key issues facing this country; even on those the Democrats have big advantages over the Republicans. This is not good news for the Democrats. McCain is the most well liked candidate in this election, and that is likely not going to change. The sparring of the Democrats is killing their shot at the White House this year, even if Obama and Hillary are on the same ticket. Here are the numbers from RasmussenReports.com.

The Economy [D > R] McCain 47%/Clinton 42% McCain 46%/Obama 39%
War in Iraq [D > R] McCain 50%/Clinton 40% McCain 48%/Obama 39%
National Security [R > D] McCain 54%/Clinton 34% McCain 52%/Obama 31%
Gov’t Ethics/Corruption [D > R] McCain 47%/Clinton 34% Obama 44%/McCain 33%
Taxes [R > D] McCain 45%/Clinton 36% McCain 41%/Obama 38%

As many of those who read this blog already know, the Mahoning been for the past 50 years. In those 50 years, absolutely nothing has been done to get us out of the “recession which we have seen for over a half a century.” Every year we see more and more jobs leave this area, and who do the local Democrats blame; ironically not themselves, but the Republicans. They blame NAFTA’s negative effects on the Valley on George W. Bush; when ironically it was their savior of a President in Bill Clinton who helped create it!

Well that leads me to my new segment on MVRed.com entitled; “The Adventures of a Youngstown Conservative.” This segment will talk about my efforts to transform local residents away from the Democratic influence that has plagued this area, and into supporting the policies of less government in lower taxes which the Republicans offer us.

I will also keep track of the number of Democrats and Moderates that I know that I have helped get to support [R] John McCain this fall. To date, I have gotten about 8 Moderates/Democrats to support [R] John McCain this fall; and I am trying my all to get more to support the Republican nominee.
